In November 1983, with the approval of the Chinese Patent Office and the People's Government of Hunan Province, Hunan took the lead in establishing the Changsha Commission Agency of Chinese Patent Office and Hunan Patent Agency (HPA), which is a public institution directly under the Provincial Department of Science and Technology. HPA has thus become one of the first patent agencies in China which played important role and guaranteed early implementation of first Chinese Patent Law properly.  

In 2000, HPA was designated by the State Intellectual Property Office as the first foreign patent agency in central and southern China.

In July 2002, HPA was restructured into Changsha Zonekey Patent Law Firm, to undertake all patent business; Subsequently, in 2003, Hunan Zonekey Patent and Trademark Law Firm, was established, mainly engaged in trademark and copyright (including software) business.  

Forty-year experience and endeavor has built Zonekey an esteemed intellectual property law service provider both domestically and abroad. Zonekey is the standing council of All-China Patent Attorney Association, the Chairperson of Hunan Province Patent Attorney association, member of International Protection of Intellectual Property Association (AIPPI), member of the International Trademark Association (INTA). It has been awarded by the local and national IP Authorities many times. In the selection of excellent application documents organized by the Intellectual Property Office of Hunan Province, Zonekey won awards every year.

At present, Zonekey has 26 patent attorneys, among of which six are double qualified as patent attorney and general attorney-at-law. Zonekey patent attorneys have a broad spectrum of science and technologies which covers at least engineering machinery, rail transit, mechanical and electrical equipment, construction engineering, electronic circuits, automatic control, electric power, communication, network and video technology, artificial intelligence related inventions and creations, chemical industry, metallurgy, materials, environmental engineering, new energy, tobacco, medicine and biotechnology etc.  

Zonekey has its patent attorneys be selected as members of many expertise panels, or consultant committees, lecturers or speakers in various kinds of training course or academic conferences.  

In addition to provide services of patent prosecution, trademark registration both domestically and abroad, Zonekey also conducts prior art research, patent profile management and strategy, infringement and early warning analysis, intellectual property due diligence, strategic planning and enforcement of IPRs.
